About Us

Shalloweir

Our kennel name Shalloweir was thought up due to a moment of inspiration whist walking the dogs up to the river, close to where we live, watching them play in the shallow waters of the weir.

We are a family run kennels who share a passion for our dogs, and we breed lovely pet or show beagles, who are reared in a home family environment.

I (Liz) have always been surrounded by dogs, getting our first beagle Sam shortly after getting married to Ron over 25 years ago. We soon had two daughters Amy (1980) and Sarah (1982) and spent many happy years with Sam.

Over the past years we have shared our lives with many more dogs including a whole range of mini Dachshunds In many Coat types!

These beautiful little dogs brought us many years of happiness. Often coming to us in their retirement years.

Jem (Beagle) was a surprise 25th Wedding anniversary Present in January 2004 - Such a lovely Surprise!

Our love of Beagles has been re-juvinated and it is lovely to have a fun loving mischievous Beagle around the home again!

Jem had her first litter of pups in November 2005 and we kept a bitch Breeze, and she went on to have her second litter of pups in May 2007 and we kept Echo. She has now retired from breeding and enjoys her walking down the weir!

Echo had her first litter of pups in spring 2010 and had 6 beautiful pups who all found lovely new homes. We will keep you updated on future litters.

We also have a love for border terriers after Ace came to live with us as a companion for Amy and her Horse, sadly we lost Ace in 2008 and so we brought Inca who filled a big hole in our lives.

Amy now has married and moved in with her husband, she has 2 borders terriers of her own Bobby and Millie.

We have decided to included these beautiful friendly faithful little dogs in our Shalloweir name and Inca has had a litter of pups in August 2010
